- The combined global market for aluminium and copper foil primer coatings is estimated to reach US$21 billion in annual revenues by 2032
Overview:
AnteoTech has reached an important commercialisation milestone for its Advanced Battery Technology business, successfully progressing its newly launched Anteo C primer coating additive from laboratory-scale testing through to manufacturing-scale process trials with a South Korean customer.
Anteo C is a performance-enhancing cross-linker additive used in primer coatings applied to copper foil anodes and aluminium foil cathodes in lithium-ion batteries. These thin functional layers improve adhesion, reduce electrical contact resistance and protect against corrosion — critical for enabling water-based processing of cathodes such as Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP). The core technical challenge Anteo C solves is binder dissolution: lower-cost, water-soluble binders used in primer coatings can dissolve when water-based active material slurries are subsequently applied during electrode manufacturing, compromising coating integrity and battery performance. By cross-linking the binder’s molecular structure, Anteo C stabilises the primer coating and prevents this dissolution, allowing manufacturers to access the cost and environmental benefits of water-based binders without sacrificing performance.
The commercial trajectory to date has been rapid. An initial 100mL sample underwent positive laboratory-scale testing by a South Korean contract coating company, leading to supply of a 5L sample for pilot-scale Roll-to-Roll coating trials. Following the success of those trials — with coated material subsequently provided to an end customer for evaluation — the contract coater requested, and AnteoTech has now shipped, a 20L sample for further evaluation as a primer coating on aluminium current collectors in water-based LFP cathode production.
Significantly, Anteo C is water-based and entirely PFAS-free, positioning it favourably against incumbent primer coating chemistries that often rely on fluoropolymers such as PVDF and PTFE — materials facing growing import restrictions and bans in numerous jurisdictions globally. This regulatory tailwind, combined with the structural shift toward silicon-based anodes and water-based LFP cathode processing in Asia, underpins AnteoTech’s view of a substantial and growing addressable market across both the copper and aluminium foil current collector segments.
Anteo C marks the second new ABT product launched by AnteoTech in 2026, following the earlier release of its Anteo S™ separator technology, which is currently undergoing pilot-scale testing with customers in Southeast Asia and the USA. Together, these two products materially expand AnteoTech’s addressable market across the broader lithium-ion battery value chain, complementing its existing high silicon Ultranode™ anode technology and Anteo X™ performance additive. The Company is also assessing commercial pathways into China, the world’s largest LiB manufacturing centre, as a further medium to long-term growth opportunity.

Company Notes:
Merrill Gray, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of AnteoTech, commented: “AnteoTech’s versatile chemical platform, combined with the ABT team’s in-depth understanding of the chemicals and materials that make up LiBs and how they interact at a molecular level, has led to the development of two new products including Anteo C in 2026, opening up new markets and applications for the Company. This is a very positive development within a relatively short timeframe of entering the South Korean market, and we look forward to continued momentum building across this and all our products in this market. Last week one of the ABT team attended The Battery + Charging Show in South Korea alongside our new separator product (Anteo S™) collaborator Xerabrid and visited potential customers. Kangshin Industrial Co. Ltd, our distributor in South Korea, is supporting identification of and engagement with additional potential Anteo C customers in South Korea. At the same time, the ABT team has expanded its outreach to a large potential customer in India and received a positive response. We are actively engaging with potential customers in other key markets directly. The product suite developed by the ABT team provides an exciting platform for growth in FY2027.”
